UNEXPECTED: Contemporary Artists at the APS Museum, American Philosophical Society Museum
2007 - 2008 Project purpose: Understand the psychographic and motivational characteristics of visitors to a contemporary artists program in order to focus planning and funding. Project conclusion: Site-specific art works drew audience types distinctive from interactive performance tour. Site-specific art work primarily drew non-local audiences with general interests. The interactive performance tour drew local Philadelphians seeking new ways to see their home city. Project relevance: The APS Museum has systematically collected and analyzed data about the relationships between programming types and visitors. It uses these findings to focus programming and funding opportunities.
