Teacher Enrichment Program, Florida Museum of Natural History

2008 - 2010

Project Purpose:
Gather in-depth data about IMLS Teacher Enrichment Grant participants.  Determine the extent to which participants recognize FLMNH as a resource for enhancing student learning in the classroom; enrich science literacy opportunities in the class; and increase the amount of students and teachers who visit FLMNH and/or participate in one if its outreach programs.

Project Conclusion:
The program built familiarity of online resources and resources among pre-service teachers; ability and willingness to adapt FLMNH resources to individual classroom and state curricula; promoted awareness of using science topics to teach non-science topics; increased attendance priority and developed regular participant return ("alumni").

Project Relevance:
This program built the foundations for lasting partnerships and relationships between the FLMNH and the teaching community for years to come.
